Grease Trap Pumping ServiceWhat is a Grease Trap?A grease trap is designed to remove solids and greases from wastewater. As water and grease enter the grease trap the velocity of the water is reduced, thus allowing the grease, which is lighter than water, to float to the surface and solids to settle to the bottom of the trap. The piping configuration allows the water to exit below the grease level thus providing a space for the grease to collect. Grease traps are effective means of grease removal if the trap is routinely pumped. If the grease accumulates above the maximum grease level, the grease will have no place to collect and will be carried off with the water into the city sewer or drain field.
Environmental Partnership Municipal and other public owned treatment plants find it difficult to treat grease in the sewer. The reason you have a grease trap is to keep the grease out of the sewers. Grease and solids removed from the grease traps are disposed of at fully permitted disposal sites or processed at one of our licensed rendering facilities. Our documentation provides a cradle to grave record of what happens to your trap grease. Valley Proteins uses dedicated multi-compartment grease trap service trucks to service grease traps. This equipment allows our operator to separate the grease and solids from the water while it is emptying the contents from the trap. The grease and solids are separated into segregated compartments on the truck apart from the water removed from the trap. With the trap in an empty condition, the driver will inspect the trap for obvious damage and scrape the sides as needed and remove any remaining grease or solids from the trap. After removing the remaining grease and solids, unless dictated otherwise by local ordinance, the driver will reintroduce the water removed from the trap leaving the trap in an operating condition. The driver will notify the manager when he has completed service and ask the manager to inspect the trap and sign the service ticket. A copy of the service ticket/manifest and any report of obvious damage or impediments to the operation of the trap are given to the manager on duty. Any reports of obvious damage or problems with the trap will be sent to the customer’s corporate office along with a copy of the related service ticket. For more information please contact .
